This work is my first attempt to try Dolby Atmos mixing on it, maybe I did’t work as good as those experienced masters, but I believe I will gradually do it better after this practice and the continuous accumulation in the future. I built the dolby renderer and 3D object panner in logic and started to do it. I designed the movement of the sound and the different position of each element to make the space filled comfortably. I also finished the downmix version as 4.0, meeting the requirement of the submission. Mixing Dolby Atmos and 4.0 are both extremely interesting things for me to do, and they also have differences while producing. There are still a lot of things for me to learn.
I regret that I didn’t realize the very first post-production plan of designing a machine learning model with coding and then training it to do upmix. Because after the tutorials with different teachers, I have to admit that they said I should have focused more on doing the artwork manually rather than writing code. Although the other course I chose (Expanded Studio Practice for 21st Century Sound Artists) has been teaching about code, it still has nothing to do with machine learning or algorithm design. Perhaps I can save my previous ideas for future works that have more room for free rein to be realized. I’m also really grateful to Mr. Mitchell for confirming my previous idea, and I’ll definitely try to make it later after school!
