My first idea was to experiment with interactive devices within the surround sound field in the gallery. For example, a jacket could be made with small microphones attached that correspond to the orientation of the individual speakers and could transmit content to the speakers instantly (but with low sensitivity to avoid creating loops that create harsh whistling sounds). The audience wearing the jackets will become the protagonists of the sound stage as they move around and make movements, similar to an immersive theatre. Taking this a step further, it might be possible to design dance and music scripts in which the actors and audience improvise together to experience the sound.
My second idea is a virtual conductor orchestra performance that I’ve seen some people do on the web, which again would require some interaction design and choreography, and would be perhaps more difficult than the first idea. It’s more like writing a VR game program that allows a wider audience to experience the joy of being a music creator in the process, rather than just a spectator.
