Guest Lecture: Nisha Ramayya

Nisha Ramayya’s work gives me a very unique feeling. Her poetry is not as easy to understand as traditional poetry, because she focuses more on sound, rhythm, and emotion. When I first read her poems, I found them quite abstract, but gradually I realized that her writing is actually full of delicate emotions and rich imagination.

What I especially like is the musical quality in her work. Many sentences feel as if they are ‘flowing’, sometimes even like lyrics or melodies. This style of writing makes me feel that she is not only writing poetry, but also creating an atmosphere. Although some of her imagery is quite complex, such as the connections between the universe, sound, nature, and spirituality, these ideas do not feel distant. Instead, they encourage readers to form their own interpretations and associations.

She does not directly express a clear theme, but instead uses fragmented images and emotions to let readers think and interpret the poems for themselves. This style may take more time to fully appreciate, but that is also what makes her poetry memorable. Every time I reread her work, I can discover something new.

I also admire the way she combines different artistic elements in her poetry, such as music, religion, nature, and technology. This makes her work feel as though it goes beyond language itself and connects different fields together.
